Employee Orientation – Onboarding – New Hire Orientation

You pay for employee orientation one way or the other!

Some companies call it employee orientation or new hire orientations; others call it onboarding. Whether it is called onboarding, new hire orientation or employee orientation, it is an extremely important process. Unfortunately, most orientations are boring, waste too much time and, even sadder, don’t effectively transfer necessary information to the employee being oriented.

We custom design employee orientation and onboarding experiences which:

  • Save human resources staff and those being oriented a lot of time while ensuring consistent, timely, effective information transfer and new hire form completion;
  • Are pleasant, positively spun, interesting and engage all types of learners – visual, auditory and kinesthetic;
  • Provide those going through the employee orientation program with the information they need to make a good start in their new job;
  • Provide ongoing, ready reference for important policies, practices and procedures for employee and, as appropriate, members of their family;
  • Assist in the timely, correct completion of new hire and benefit paperwork (eliminating the need to follow up with the employee, late enrollments, missing information, etc.);
  • Ensure that new hires “get it” and, as important, that you can prove they understood key policies (anti-harassment, non-discrimination, customer service, attendance, employment at will, etc.);
  • Can either be CD or intranet based.

PGPi works with your staff to determine what information your new employees need to be successful and prepare a high quality, CD (or intranet) based employee orientation program that is deliverable to your new hires via mail or intranet.

The benefits of this approach include:
  • Improved understanding of important policies, practices by newly hired employees;
  • Faster acquisition of information and more timely completion of new hire and benefit forms (often new hires arrive for their first day of employment having already completed their employee orientation and related paperwork);
  • Reduces unnecessary questions after the orientation, turnover, mistakes, confusion and stress;
  • Must less staff time in routine employee orientation, onboarding duties – allowing them to use time for higher value activities;
  • The ability to prove that you not only presented information during the employee orientation but that the newly hired employee actually understood it;
  • A more professional, quality approach which impresses new hires and provides them with the best possible first impression of your organization;
  • Much lower overall employee orientation cost while increasing onboarding process effectiveness.
